Compulsory Assessment Period
- Starts 1st February 2008, Friday 5.30 pm
- Duration: 2 months (February, March 2007)
- Attendance of 3-4 days per week
- Apply before 15January, 2008
- Fee: $300 (to be paid in advance)

Teachers Training Course
- Starts 6th April, 2008, Sunday 9am - 5pm
- Duration: 16 weeks
- Training Days:
- Monday 7pm to 8.30pm
- Wednesdays: 7pm to 9pm
- Fridays:5.30pm to 8.45pm
- Sundays: 9am to 5pm
- First Aid Course (over a week-end)
- Yoga Retreat in the bush (over a week-end)
- Fee: $2000 (pay 3 instalments of $600/month + $200 in July)
Pre-requisites for joining the course
- Have experience of regular yoga training for two years under an experienced yoga teacher. Must have valid document signed by the teacher.
- Successful completion of 2 months Compulsory Assessment Period

- All practical aspects of “Hatha Yoga”
- Raja Yoga” (Yoga Sutras of Patanjali)
- Yoga Philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita and Vedanta
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Yoga Chakras
- Work place safety
- Yoga for special needs (pregnant women, children, teenagers & seniors)
- Business of Yoga
- Principals of adult learning
- First Aid certificate course
Course Objective
To train yoga practitioners to teach Classical Yoga to beginner and intermediate levels in the tradition of Acharya Roy and the teaching method of Acharya Roy, the founder of Yoga Australia.
Classical Yoga
As instructed in the original yoga texts Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita, Siva Samhita together with the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita.
The Tradition of Acharya Roy
- Derived from Acharya Roy’s extensive training in Vedanta and Tantra.
- Yoga practices and principles based strictly on Acharya Roy’s personal studies and lifetime experience of practising and teaching yoga combined with his intimate knowledge of the original Sanskrit yoga texts.
- Practice of yoga through the seven core streams of Hatha Yoga and the eight limbs of Raja Yoga.
- Development of deep spiritual awareness.
- Practical experiential learning.
- Emphasis on regular personal practice [daily].
- Championing of the “Yoga Way Of Life”
The Teaching Method of Acharya Roy
- Regular yoga sessions commence with deep relaxation, followed by pranayama practice, preliminary joint and muscle limbering, asanas practised individually and in an appropriate order and meditation on conclusion.
- Demonstration by teacher and explanation of benefits and cautions for each practice.
- Emphasis on thorough understanding of foundation skills by repeated practice.
- Progression to more intensive levels when student is ready.
- Informative about scientific and medical validation of yogic practices.
- Non-intrusive and respectful relationship with students.
- Minimal physical contact.
- Achievement of sound standards of asana practice without the use of external aids and props.
